These works explore the shifting relationships we have with place- how we see, remember, and belong to landscapes over time. I work from direct observation, photographs, and memory, using oil, gouache, or charcoal. My process is immediate and physical, with expressive strokes applied by brush and palette knife. Some works are done in a single session, while others are scraped down and repainted, leaving a ghost of their memory in the process. Whether created on-site or in the studio, these paintings are records of looking- each mark a response to a fleeting, deeply felt experience.
